This sand plant was looking to expand its operation to include loading bulk sand into semi trucks for local clients. This proved to be a unique design as it required designing and constructing around other active operations. The final design allowed the client to load two trucks side-by-side in roughly five minutes each! To accomplish this goal a series of equipment was used including belt conveyors, storage silos, control gates, and more.

This facility was specially designed to solve a problem. That problem was the need to transfer Frac sand from inaccessible rail cars loaded at mine, to more mobile semi trucks. Which are more easily able to deliver the material to its final destination. To solve this problem, a complex set of equipment was designed specifically for this application. To include belt conveyors, bucket elevators, storage silos, control gates, and much more.

Designed with an openness to draw people in the frameless glass facades idea was to put as little obstructions between you and the restarurants atmospere. It was accomplished by using structural glass “fins” and stainless steel brackets to support the structure instead of bulky window glazing.

An Inclined Drag Conveyor has many varying uses, but in the Fertilizing world they are used to transfer fertilizer into storage buildings. This is accomplished by Semi's or Railcars pulling over the inlet port in the lower section. After the gates have been opened the chain and paddles inside pull the materials up the length of the conveyor and out of the discharge end. Typically the material would be discharged onto another conveying system inside of the storage building.

As an alternative to the Gravity Tripper the “Trip Slinger” was introduced to throw material from the conveyor perpendicularly using a low horsepowered motor. What this did was allow for material holding areas a larger storage capacity by filling the area from front to back instead of form the center out. In addition to larger capacities it also helped to cut delivery costs for clients as they were having to pay for less shipments.

Mild steel conveyor systems are used in alternative situations whenever stainless steel isn’t needed. Such as feed and seed or cement facilities where items caustic components such as ammonia are not present.

Serving as the first major sub assembly in a belt conveyor system. The “Head Section” as it is called, is where the material is distributed onto the modular conveyor. Problems tended to arise in this part of the system due to lack of structural support and moisture in the system. These issues were solved by adding braces that attached to the existing structure, and adding moisture guards to the unit itself.

As the end of the conveyor system the “Tail Section” housed the motor, which pulled the belt and material along. This final section of the conveyor system had more concerns than the rest of the systems combined. In addition to the structural support needed, there were concerns about dust and material loss. Also was the concern of how to keep the correct amount of tension on the belt (too much and the belt will break, not enough and material will not be pulled along the belt). To solve these issues items were added such as belt tensioners, and dust collection through chutes for reclamation.
